PURPOSE OF POSITION:
In the position of FAI Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out FAI procedural activities, such as, but not limited to:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Read blueprints and decipher how to obtain certain measurements
- Make accurate and precise measurements
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) as assigned
- Produce FAI Reports (FAIR) as assigned
- Maintain records associated with FAI process
- Provide FAI Status reports to team
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager
COMPETENCIES:
- Problem solving skills
- Strong working knowledge of precision dimensional measuring equipment such as but not limited to tape measures, calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, radius gauges and protractors
- Able to make accurate measurements, precisely
- Comfortable with MS Excel
- Attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills able to interface effectively and diplomatically with Quality, Supply, Engineering and Operations departments
- Familiar with ISO 9001 and AS9102 (Aerospace FAI) requirements
- Organizational and time management skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of experience utilizing dimensional measuring equipment with preference given to those with precision measuring experience
- At least 1 year of inspection experience, manufacturing inspection experience a plus
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL:
Physical Demands:
- Activities: Sitting – 30% Walking/Standing – 70%
- Lifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.
- Vision: Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.
Mental Demands: Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Environment: Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
