The Adult Day Care Center on our Manhattan campus is seeking a full time Therapeutic Recreation Therapist to join our team! This position will be part-time, 3 days a week , 18 to 20 hour per week . The work schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 11:30 am to 6:00 pm, with alternating Saturdays, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Job Duties
- Assists in planning recreational activities for frail, memory challenged and visually impaired clients.
- Handles and completes clients' therapeutic recreation programs and ensures completion of progress notes for clients every 180 days .
- Prepares the comprehensive care plans for assigned clients , attends scheduled meetings and provides updates for changes in their status, behavior and health.
- Prepares materials for recreation programs , incorporating client's needs and interest in the process.
- Requests supply orders for recreation program as needed.
- Prepares and conducts recreational activities in the area of specialty and encourages participation in the activity.
- Clean up supplies and equipment after each activity.
- Work with and/or supervise volunteers assigned to his/her work area.
- Facilitates access and participation in activities of clients with special needs.
- Maintains statistics and attendance information/records.
- Communicates with other staff, families and clients about the recreation program, when needed.
- Assists in large group recreation activities.
- Attends workshops, seminars, in-service education programs and department meetings.
- Prepares and post a large monthly recreation calendar, with information coming from the Recreation Coordinator.
- Performs other tasks as maybe assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- College degree preferably in Therapeutic Recreation
- With 2 years experience in Therapeutic Recreation
- Ability to plan, conduct and conduct therapeutic recreation programs , in accordance with age appropriate activities of the older adult population.
- Movement involved activities such as but not limited to exercise, dancing and bowling.
- Transporting supplies, lifting, pushing and re-arranging tables and chairs.
- Pushing wheelchairs and assisting transfers.
