Through personalized counseling, workshops, internships, networking opportunities, and access to relevant tools and information, we strive to foster confidence, resilience, and success in every stage of career development. Reporting to the Manager, Career Development and Experiential Opportunities, the Internship Coordinator provides internship, F-1 status, and professional development advisement and support to the student community at The New School in a fast-paced environment.
This position is a Local 1205 Professional Unit position covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Local 1205 Teamsters and The New School.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process all Experience-Internship requests for students participating in internships outside of the university.
- Provide guidance and instruction to students on school internships policies and processes, and career guidance; support the Manager with tracking student internship submissions.
- Provide guidance to international students with maintaining their legal status and in compliance with federal student visa rules as it relates to for credit and non credit academic internships.
- Liaise and collaborate with ISSS on all international student Experience-Internship submissions allowing CPT issuance; liaise and collaborate with other other staff, departments, and students as required.
- Resolve any issues, concerns or conflicts that may arise during the employer-student internship period and support the Manager in responding to students, faculty, and staff on all experience-internship related matters by email, phone, or in-person.
- Support Manager in developing informational and educational materials for students including workshops, events that educate students on experience-internship processes and promote the professional success of international students.
- Communicates with staff, faculty, students and employers about internships, policies and regulations.
- Adheres to government regulations, university policies, procedures and practices.
- Establishes a professional presence on campus and in the field through partnerships and associations; and participates in education conferences and meetings.
