Job Title : Middle School Science
Reports to : Middle School Division Head
FLSA Status : Exempt
Job Summary :
The Lead Teacher will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an early childhood, lower school, middle school or upper school learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Develop and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate math instruction aligned with independent school best practices.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth as a grade-level advisor.
Assess and monitor student progress, maintaining clear communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school community activities.
Maintain accurate records and uphold safety and security standards.
Required Skills / Abilities :
Strong understanding of pedagogy and best practices in education.
Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons using diverse methods.
Effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and technology integration skills.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related subject required; Master’s degree preferred.
Previous middle school teaching experience preferred.
CPR certification preferred.
Physical Requirements with or without accommodations :
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds at times.
Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending, leaning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, in order to teach each child.
Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
