Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library, ensuring that services are delivered with excellence and inclusivity.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to promote the library's services and resources to patrons with disabilities, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including development team members, to create grant proposals and secure funding for initiatives that support the library's mission.
- Serve as a key liaison between the library and external partners, fostering relationships and promoting the library's services through outreach and education efforts.
- Supervise and mentor staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in delivering high-quality services to patrons.
Requirements
- An ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library and Information Studies, along with a Public Librarian's Professional Certificate issued by the State of New York.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in public librarianship, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the library as an ambassador to patrons, colleagues, and external partners.
- Demonstrated expertise in emerging technologies, service trends, and programming strategies for urban public libraries, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion.
- Strong computer and technology skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Google applications, and e-reader devices.
