The Lionel Pincus and Princess Firyal Map Division, Irma and Paul Milstein Division of United States History, Local History and Genealogy, and Dorot Jewish Division are prestigious research divisions housed on the first floor of the New York Public Library's flagship Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
The LTA II within these divisions plays a vital role in providing excellent public service at the service desks, directly supporting patron access to the Library's rich collections. This role also contributes to the divisions' technical service operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Library Technical Assistant II will:
- Staff the service desks for the Maps, Dorot Jewish, and Local History & Genealogy Divisions (MDLHG), providing expert assistance to researchers
- Contribute to the processing and technical services functions of the MDLHG Divisions, ensuring smooth access to resources.
- Assist in maintaining the physical collections and public spaces of the MDLHG Divisions, contributing to a welcoming and organized research environment
- Process library cards, manage material circulation (check-in/check-out), coordinate offsite delivery, maintain hold shelves, and resolve circulation and delivery issues
- Provide directional assistance to visitors, ensure adherence to library policies and procedures, and assist users in navigating a large research library
- Manage projects effectively while maintaining accurate records and statistics
- Utilize relevant software and technologies, such as Sierra, Aeon, the ReCap Staff Interface, and Google Suite to support researchers and manage workflows
- Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned
Required Education & Certifications
- High School Diploma
- Demonstrated ability to provide helpful and effective service to library patrons, including assisting with research inquiries and resolving issues.
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload with accuracy, prioritizing effectively
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
- Flexible and eager to learn new tools and adapt to change
