Controller Job Description
The Controller is a critical role at The New Yorker Hotel by Wyndham, responsible for overseeing and coordinating Accounting Operations to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily accounting operations to ensure compliance with policies, GAAP, and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Assist the Area Director of Finance in maintaining control over income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
- Oversee Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Income Journal, General Cashiering, Taxes, and internal controls.
Key Accountabilities:
- Supervise employees in Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashier, and Night Audit departments.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure financial accuracy.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for management.
- Contribute to budget compilation and preparation, forecasts, taxes, and other financial reports.
- Maintain financial and cash controls across hotel departments.
- Resolve problems and ensure smooth operation of accounting systems and equipment.
Requirements:
- 2-4 years of hotel accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Able to analyze data, make decisions guided by policies, and interpret information.
