Job Title - Teacher (Middle School Math)
Job Duties:
The Teacher will report to the Head of School/Principal/CEO and will complete but is not limited to the following duties:
Job Responsibilities:
- Remain current with new developments in subject matter content (Middle School Math), teaching methods, instructional strategies, educational technology, and educational research in assigned subject area(s).
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques to motivate students and demonstrate an understanding of the psychological, societal, and developmental needs of students.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, adapt the curriculum, and plan a program of study to meet the individual needs, interests, diversified skill set, and abilities of each student.
- Establish standards of student behavior and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner to achieve a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of NJCCCS goals and set specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and planning to achieve these objectives.
- Identifies students’ needs and cooperates with other professional specialists in assessing and resolving learning difficulties.
- Establishes communications with colleagues on an informal and formal basis.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about school programs and to discuss student progress.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
- Assist in the selection of textbooks, instructional equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Instruct, advise, coach, supervise, and/or direct activities, including but not limited to, such activities as Flex Activities, music, theatrical programs, publications, student government, student clubs, Intramurals, etc.
- Supervises student behavior in the hallways, lunchroom, and on school grounds for the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors,
- Participate in professional development activities and faculty meetings, and serve on staff committees, as required.
- Perform other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certifications as may be assigned by his/her supervisor(s) under the direction of the Head of School/Principal/CEO of The Newgrange School.
- Plans and implements the goals and objectives of current student IEPs.
- Attend IEP meetings as needed.
- Assume other related duties/assignments assigned by the supervisor.
- Certificated Instructional Staff are to maintain complete and accurate records of student performance on systems Newgrange provides for this purpose and to update those records on time when notified of upcoming reporting/meeting dates.
- Accept the goals and criteria of Newgrange education to support school plans and objectives in meeting those goals" to work cooperatively with your colleagues, to maintain high professional and ethical standards, and to conform to the school's policies and regulations of teaching responsibilities, teaching performance, and academic activities.
- Participate in meetings on two designated days per week for one hour, from approximately 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm., and be available for training, consultation, and other duties related to the opening or closing of the school, as indicated on the school calendar.
- You are also expected to dedicate additional time to the school as deemed necessary by the Administration for training, school activities such as back-to-school night, parent conferences, and other events requiring your presence.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree and a valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate or Statement of Eligibility required with the appropriate Highly Qualified teaching endorsement in the assigned curricular area.
- NJDOE Mathematics Certification, TOH or TOSD certification.
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
- Intends to maintain an optimal learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Head of School/Principal/CEO in consultation with the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
