Program Coordinator - Summer Programs
Worksite Location: The Dalles / Hood River
Work Schedule: Seasonal (March 1st - August 31st); Full-Time; 40 hours per week
Wage Range: $22.91 - $25.16 per hour
Reports to: Youth Services Program Manager

Who are we looking for?
The Summer Programs Coordinator works with community partners to plan and coordinate efforts for The Next Door’s Summer Youth Employment Program, as well as summer camps we may offer. Summer Youth Employment is a program that employs youth aged 14 - 18 to do crew work on trails and community beautification projects. Youth will work with crew leaders and community partners like the Forest Services and local Parks and Recreation rangers.
What you will do…
- Create marketing materials for Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) including recruitment for youth and crew leaders
- Connect with community partners to identify work sites for crew work
- Connect with community youth serving partners to inform about program and program eligibility
- Work with camp directors to support in coordinating summer camp activities
- Plan recreation activities for camps and SYEP
- Coordinate interviews, orientation, and training for camp counselors and SYEP Crews/ crew leaders
- Ensure all program documentation from each participant is on file
- Coordination of summer transportation with Next Door vehicles or other options
- Submits/ coordinates collection of supply lists for SYEP and camp activities; gets supplies to camp directors and crew leaders
- Case management of youth enrolled in SYEP and camps (including connecting families to resources as needed)
- Work with program manager to collect data and track program outcomes
- Works with youth camp counselors to give clarity around their role, as well as provides them training for camp (including training basic boundaries as a camp counselor)
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Education, Experience, and Requirements …
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with auto liability insurance
- Comfortable and able to drive long distances (mileage paid by program)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree
