JOB TYPE: Internship – 40 hours per week for 10 weeks

ABOUT US: The Nonantum's Internship program is designed to provide students with real-world experience and insights into professional life through the lens of hospitality. All majors are encouraged to apply, and interns will have the opportunity to explore various positions based on their interests. Previous interns have come from all educational fields, from environmental science to education to philosophy to business. Professional workshops by Educate Maine complement the experience, enhancing knowledge and imparting skills applicable across professions.

ABOUT THE JOB:
- Rotational Program: Internship begins with a 2-week orientation spanning Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Sales & Events, Marketing, Operations, Activities, and Groundskeeping. In Week 3, Interns will be assigned to specific departments for the duration of the time with the potential to switch departments after 4 weeks.
- Professional Development: Attend professionally led workshops on team collaboration, resume writing, and LinkedIn profile building through Maine Career Catalyst.
- Networking Events & Team-Building Activities: Engage in group meals, bowling, kayaking, paddleboarding, biking, hikes, and boat excursions.
- Community Involvement: Participate in a volunteer project to understand The Nonantum's commitment to the community.
- Capstone Project: A project related to the Nonantum experience and assigned department is required for successful completion. Examples of prior capstone projects have included:
- Conducting a sustainability review
- Designing a historical tour of the property
- Developing the business plan for a seasonal farm stand at Blackrock Farm
- Studying the ecology of the Kennebunk River
- Honing and further developing The Nonantum's inventory systems
- Developing social media strategies for the resort
ABOUT YOU:
- Minimum one year of a 2- or 4-year college program completed. All majors welcome.
- Eager to learn about a career in hospitality.
- Ability and desire to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Comfortable communicating respectfully to people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Confident asking for help when needed.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Abides to the highest ethical standards.
- Seeks additional tasks during lower-volume time periods.
