The Director of Simpsonwood United Methodist Church Preschool leads a 30 year-plus program offering hospitality, love, and early childhood formation in the spirit of the Wesleyan tradition. The Director serves as the programatic and administrative lead, supporting a team who cares for children aged 12 months through five years in the heart of Peachtree Corners.
Educational and Background Requirements :
Must have a bachelor's degree, educational (preferably early childhood) background
At least 2 years of field-related work experience.
Certified in first aid and CPR (or able to become certified).
Strong administrative, verbal and written communication skills required
Experience with Brightwheel, Google Workspace, Canva and QuickBooks preferred.
Primary Tasks :
Supervise the daily planning and administration of the preschool program with the purpose, goals and philosophy of the school.
Maintain Safe Sanctuary Guidelines for the safety of all students and staff
Prepare and submit the annual budget and tuition schedule for review and approval; manage tuition and other payments.
Lead recruitment and enrollment of new and returning families. Give tours and provide additional information, handle incoming calls from potential students, etc.
Maintain all school-related records including enrollment, tuition, registrations, accident reports and related information, daily / weekly / monthly / annual schedules, and all health records.
Maintain, with the assistance of the Manager of Finance and Accounting, records related to staff salaries, staff absences, and payroll.
Maintain the school’s accreditation with the North Georgia United Methodist Preschool Association, including attending Preschool Association meetings. Consider initiating and maintaining membership in other professional organizations, as necessary.
Plan for teacher enrichment opportunities, usually held during pre- and post-planning.
Ensure a clean, healthy and safe preschool setting in conjunction with the Simpsonwood UMC facilities staff and the Simpsonwood UMC Board of Trustees.
Communicate regularly with families.
Supervise preschool teaching staff and oversee personnel decisions to meet the needs of the school.
Select and provide curriculum materials consistent with the philosophy of the school and also with overseeing implementation and assessment in order to ensure each child’s growth and development.
Lead and support special school events, such as graduation and Christmas performances.
Work with the Simpsonwood UMC Director of Children’s Ministries to offer a seamless, uniform opportunity for families to experience hospitality and belonging to the full life of Simpsonwood UMC.
Attend SUMC staff meetings, SUMC Preschool Board meetings and other meetings, as required.
