About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the North Middlesex Regional School District. As a Custodian, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and communicate the district's Mission, Vision, Goals, and Values to students, parents, and the community.
- Uphold District policies, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate concern for and act to assure the safety, security, and welfare of yourself, students, and coworkers.
- Maintain current knowledge of school Safety Plan.
- Show respect for all students, parents, coworkers, community members, and visitors, and do not discriminate based on age, color, disability, national origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
- Have good attendance and be punctual, notifying supervisor of illness and personal requests in a timely fashion.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding personal and work/school-related information for all students and staff of the district.
Department-Specific Tasks:
- Follow the work schedule for the performance of regular cleaning duties.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and locker rooms.
- Strip, wax, and seal tile and VCT flooring.
- Operate and utilize assigned equipment in a manner that is safe and consistent with the manufacturer's operating instructions.
- Perform winter maintenance functions such as snow removal and sanding/salting.
- Any other tasks requested by the Director of Buildings and Grounds/Day Lead.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Basic custodial experience.
- Ability to use various types of cleaning products and equipment, both powered and non-powered.
- Ability to meet the requirements of the essential functions of the position.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
Work Environment:
- Constant light to moderate physical effort required in performing functions.
- Frequently required to move objects weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders and otherwise access all levels of public facilities.
