About The Role
The Nuclear Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Testing & Startup to lead all aspects of the initial testing and startup/commissioning phases for our new nuclear projects. This critical role will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely initial testing /commissioning of new nuclear power plants. This role will report into the Chief Nuclear Officer.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of testing the plant, maintenance of equipment and systems, transition of systems and areas to the Licensee in support of receiving the 103(g) Finding and full support of the Start-Up Program, including:
Monitor and analyze test data, identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies, and ensure that all testing objectives are met.
Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure a seamless transition from construction to operation.
Maintain close communication with regulatory agencies (e.g., NRC) throughout the testing and startup process.
Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize testing processes and improve overall project efficiency.
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and procedures throughout the testing and startup phase.
Experience
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $198,000 - $228,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.

- Building a cohesive testing, maintenance and start-up organization
- Refining and implementing comprehensive testing plans and procedures.
- Coordinating and supervising pre-operational testing activities.
- Leading the startup and power ascension process.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Functional tests, integrated tests, and performance tests.
- Startup tests, power ascension tests, and load following tests.
- Flushing, component testing, and cold hydro testing.
Monitor and analyze test data, identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies, and ensure that all testing objectives are met.
Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure a seamless transition from construction to operation.

Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 10 years of experience in the nuclear power industry with a strong focus on operations, testing and startup activities.
- Proven experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of nuclear power plant systems, components, and operations.
- Extensive knowledge of NRC regulations and industry standards related to testing and startup.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
