General Assignment
The General Manager/Senior DFN is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of School District cafeterias operations. The GM/Senior DFN primary focus, outside of operations, is client relations and retention. The GM/Senior DFN will also be involved in operational assistance, training, development, and administrative review.
Responsibilities
Financial Results and Accountability
- Manage expenses including food cost, labor costs and miscellaneous expenses
- Manage revenue including cash sales and reimbursements
- Manage monthly financial reports, explaining fluctuations in revenue and expenses and determining plan of action to improve financial performance
- Meets or exceeds the budgeted profit and/or loss projections
- Responsible for reviewing and verifying accurate financial information for each district including sales reports, school recaps, transmittals, deposit reconciliations and inventory totals
- Participates in the development of bid budgets and renewal budgets
- Assists in reconciles of Citrix P&Ls with corporate P&Ls to ensure all information is accurate and correct
Paperwork
- Completes weekly checklist and notifies corporate office of paperwork completion
- Assists operations managers with inventory and end of the month paperwork
- Reviews and edits all board reports
- Completes weekly progress report
Quality Control
- Visits district cafeterias on a regular basis to ensure TNG expectations are being met
- Assists district with USDA and PDE policies and procedures
Personnel
- Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, developing, utilizing, motivating, evaluating, and terminating employees in conjunction with school district and The Nutrition Group policies
- Covers operations managers vacancies and/or covers hourly positions as need
- Conducting mid-year and end-of-year performance evaluations.
- Assists with the development and execution of training programs for management and hourly staff
- Follows The Nutrition Group's 12 Promises and encourages mangers to follow 12 Promises
- Develop and achieving annual goals
- Attends RM Development Trainings
- Reviews annual goals with managers and helps them achieve their goals
Communication
- Develops and maintains solid relationships with district administrators and board members
- Develops relationships with hourly staff and provides contact information
- Participates in administrative meetings.
- Communicates with Vice President and Regional Manager on a regular basis regarding operational and financial status of all accounts
- Attends board meetings and presents operational and financial updates
Managerial Effectiveness
Maintains a positive attitude, which provides the motivating force in developing an awareness of, alertness to, and interest in producing the maximum possible positive result with the minimum expenditure of school district resources. The overall guiding factor in accomplishing a high standard of performance in this area should be the attitude of management, successfully transmitted to Operations Managers, cafeteria staff and eventually to the client toward the goal of providing service - cheerfully, willingly, and conscientiously to all parties at all times.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in related field required
- Staff Management experience preferred
- Food Service Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must obtain clearances and pass criminal background checks
