About the Job:
This position will be working in a local production/commercial kitchen.
Duties include:
- Stock, rotate, block and maintain product on shelves.
- Operate walk behind forklift and pallet jacks
- Assist management team with inventory management and ordering functions.
- Monitor expiration dates of products.
- Manage inventory following FIFO procedures.
- Maintain safety as the top priority for our Team Members and products.
- Properly handle products and equipment in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines.
- Unload and store food items in prep areas and coolers.
- Unload product from truck, load flats and break down any pallets.
- Monitor product quality upon receiving delivery.
- Assist in maintaining back-room efficiency by unloading deliveries.
- Receive and process all vendor products.
- Ensure that vendors are delivering product to the receiving area during established delivery times.
- Prepare product to be stocked by taking case of pallet, cutting it open and loading onto flat.
- Maintain cleanliness of area.
- Maintain a clean, organized and clutter-free backroom/receiving area operation.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn, understand and communicate with team members.
- Become familiar with products in the warehouse so you can pull items as needed and answer questions.
Duties may also include:
- Cooking and food preparation
- Portioning and packaging meals
- Sanitation in conjunction with USDA and state guidelines.
- HAACP and health department regulation compliance
- Assisting to monitor costs and inventory controls.
Qualifications:
- Food service experience a plus
- Warehouse experience preferred
- Forklift certification a plus
- A positive and consistent work ethic
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- A willingness to learn and grow within your position
- Ability to do basic math and read recipes
- Computer literacy preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Background check required
Physical Requirements May Include:
- Standing for long periods of time
- Sitting, pushing, pulling
- Lifting up to and in excess of 50lbs
- Walking
- Working in hot or cold environments for long periods of time
