What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN-Charge Nurse position at The Oaks?
Evaluates residents, implements and documents nursing care. Administers medications, performs various tests and assists physicians during examinations and procedures. Assesses and documents resident condition and reports significant changes. Responsible for nursing care provided by LPNs & CNAs. Responsible for CNA/LPN Scheduling. On Call every other week. Responsible for Infection Control.
Education; Experience; License(s), Certification(s), Registration(s), Accreditation(s)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and current nursing registration.
- Previous experience in a Nursing Home/Long Term Care facility is preferred, but not required.
- Administrative and supervisory experience is also preferred, but not required.
- Current & valid driver's license, safe driving record and proof of insurance when using personal vehicle for nursing home business and/or operating a nursing home vehicle.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, write, speak and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and be courteous, tactful and patient when dealing with residents, family members, employees and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Computer literate & ability to use for electronic medical records; to complete on-line training, and other job-related tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with frequent interruptions.
- Good nursing skills and thorough knowledge of principles, methods & techniques involved in performing general nursing services and adapting or modifying standard nursing practice for care of specific cases.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills in both day-to-day and crisis situations.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Current Louisiana registration as RN required.
- Certified in CPR.
- Pass all required background checks.
- Possess a genuine interest in geriatric work.
- Be compassionate, patient, understanding and honest.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
