What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biostatistician I position at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center?
As a Biostatistician I, you will function as a biostatistician supporting biomedical research projects across the health sciences, serving as a member of the Center for Biostatistics. Your responsibilities will include overseeing biomedical databases for assigned research projects and consulting with study investigators and researchers to determine study requirements and develop analysis and data interpretation methodologies. You will work closely with higher-level biostatisticians to create datasets for analysis using statistical programming and analysis standards. Additionally, you will conduct and interpret analyses of research data using descriptive statistics and basic inferential tests, ensuring consistent, accurate, and valid conclusions. Identifying data discrepancies and collaborating with data managers to develop resolutions will also be part of your role. You will prepare interim and final results, including tables and figures, and provide principal investigators with a written description of the methods and statistical analyses used in the analysis. Moreover, you will assist in preparing journal articles, technical reports, and other materials for publication and presentation and attend project meetings.
Minimum Education Required
Master's degree or equivalent experience in biostatistics, statistics or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Additional Education Desired
Coursework in epidemiology, public health, biology, or medicine is desired.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required, with 2-4 years preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of standard statistical analysis methodologies and proficiency in at least one statistical programming language, such as SAS, STATA, or R, is essential. Additionally, 1-3 years of experience in a statistician capacity is required, with a preference for those with biostatistician experience. Experience in managing large data sets and utilizing statistical software packages is highly desired. Successful completion of a background check is required, and the selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
