Position Scope
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (WMC) is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Manager of Mechanical and Electrical Building Systems is responsible for the WMC enterprise electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and industrial building systems operations (MEP-ICS), maintenance, and compliance with regulatory compliance standards, and associated Facilities Operations and Development (FOD OPS) WMC District shops and contracted resources. This position collaborates with FOD OPS WMC District Engineering, and Facilities Design and Construction (FDC), and WMC Space and Facility Planning on design, selection, development of the WMC mechanical and electrical infrastructure. This position also collaborates with all FOD campus operations units and Ohio State Energy Partners (OSEP), and FDC. Advises FOD and WMC leaders on operation and maintenance of the WMC enterprise-wide electrical, mechanical, and industrial systems operations and analysis.
Systems and equipment are operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Facilities Operations and Engineering, this position supervises managers of the mechanical and electrical building system shops; directs staffing, operations, and building MEP-ICS systems and equipment reliability and efficiency activities; mentors and trains staff (e.g., skilled trades, managers) on MEP-ICS systems functionality; identifies capital investment needs and collaborates with capital planning to team to request and prioritize projects based on WMC needs and available funding; provides direction on projects, procedures, policies and methodologies to ensure patient, visitor and staff safety; and integrates MEP-ICS systems with the overall mission of the Wexner Medical Center. This position is also responsible for overseeing the designing, planning and coordination of the development / installation of systems, including MEP-IS systems and infrastructure such as pneumatic tube systems, nurse call, fire alarm, generators, plumbing, responsible for commissioning of associated systems, equipment, and controls. Works in collaborations with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) systems, digital lighting controls systems, and digital high pressure steam station controls. This position will also review plans, specifications, and drawings submitted by contractors, architects, engineers and vendors for overall workability with regards to capacity, regulatory compliance, compatibility of proposed equipment and systems with existing MEP-ICS equipment and systems. Contributes to the strategic vision and serves as the top-level technical contributor in the planning, development, implementation, functionality and evaluation of MEP-IS systems that support, enhance and ensure effective, safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations of WMC building controls, systems, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience
- 5 years of relevant experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building infrastructure equipment and distributions systems and equipment.
- 2 years of experience leading or supervising mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building infrastructure teams.
- Proven leadership and customer service skills and experience.
- Valid Driver's License
- Proficient with running reports and reviewing data for trends and other analytics
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 tools up to and including Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Project management experience.
