Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to improving access and service to customers. The Registration Coordinator functions as an integral member of the health care team to reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. This position ensures access to OSUWMC physicians and services and coordinates and supports the functions of integrated radiology services as well as ensures proper data collection/support for an accurate bill.
Position Summary
Responsible for providing consumers (physicians and patients) with accurate, up-to-date information regarding services and radiology procedures, as well as maintaining patient demographics and history to ensure accuracy of the information to support clinical and financial needs. Primarily provides support to physicians, patients and physician support staff by coordinating requests and satisfying their needs in one phone call. Solves routine customer problems. Communicates regularly, with technologists and radiology leadership to ensure customer and department staff needs are met.
Displays the highest level of customer service, attentiveness and consideration possible in all cases.
Uses phone software, scheduling software applications, and telecommunication technology and customer service skills to facilitate customer interactions such that the customer experiences the Medical Center and its entities as an accessible, coordinated and seamless entity.
The Registration Coordinator serves as point of contact for patients, clinicians, technologists and nursing needing assistance with WET READS, Consultations, second opinion reads and protocols from the radiologists within the department. The Registration Coordinator is responsible for gathering pertinent patient information, orders, clinical histories, scheduling, and data input for IHIS. The expectation of the Registration Coordinator is to follow the customer service guidelines provided by the Medical Center and University, caring for each person individually, with the utmost respect and compassion.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Must meet CSS requirements. Knowledge of medical terminology; considerable experience in a medical setting; knowledge of IHIS, and Microsoft Office, good organizational and communication skills highly desired. One year experience (1200 hours training) using keyboard and/or word processing equipment to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex desired; One year experience (1200 hours training) in office practices and procedures desired; One year experience (1200 hours course work) in customer service or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
