What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Web Developer position at The Ohio State University?
This position serves as Associate Web Developer reporting to the Managing Director of the Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Trust.
The Associate Web Developer will design and build realistic but intentionally vulnerable web applications suitable for training, teaching, and assessment of cybersecurity skills. The Associate Web Developer must be capable of working independently under loose guidance regarding the final form the project will take and be capable of interacting with stakeholders to enhance the utility of the system.
Duties:
- Creates web applications vulnerable to OWASP Top 10 and other requested application security vulnerabilities
- Deploys, tests, and decommissions web applications
- Meets with the project lead and stakeholders on an as scheduled basis
- Coordinates with the Infrastructure Developer to fit web applications into the deployment system
- Coordinates with the Content Creator to provide applications whose look and feel can change significantly while maintaining the vulnerability being taught or measured

Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer and Information Science or related field or equivalent experience. 0 years of relevant experience required.
Desired:
0-2 years of experience as listed:
- At least 6 months of experience in web application development, with experience developing in at least three languages (PHP, ASP.NET, Python (Django or Flask), JavaScript/JQuery, CGI with any language, and similar languages)
- Experience with at least one Content Management Service (Wordpress, Drupal, etc.)
- Experience building a substantial software project from scratch as a lone developer
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and testing methodologies for web applications
The target hiring range for this job profile is $24.52 - $32.21/hr, paid biweekly. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
