The fulltime lecturer in leadership and career preparation will be responsible for planning instruction, grading, and teaching 3-5 undergraduate courses each during the Autumn and Spring semesters and up to two courses during the summer term. The majority of courses will be at the undergraduate level, although some graduate courses in ACEL’s online Masters degree may be assigned to the successful candidate dependent upon candidate skills, qualifications, and prior professional experience. Potential course topics relate to work-based field experiences in leading/serving others, application of personal leadership theory, community leadership, volunteer management, leadership in agricultural and/or nonformal education settings, and strategic and educational program planning. In addition to planning and delivering instruction, the lecturer is expected to be an active, contributing member of the ACEL faculty team engaging in curriculum decisions, program assessment data collection efforts, student recruitment, and strategic planning for ACEL’s academic programs. The position requires in-person instruction five days per week on the Columbus campus during the autumn and spring terms with the possibility for remote work during summer months if teaching courses in the online masters degree program.

Essential Duties

1. Modify curriculum and plan instruction for existing courses

2. Teach 7-10 courses per year dependent upon program needs

3. Provide timely and developmental feedback on student learning

4. Collect and supply data related to program assessment

5. Engage in student recruitment efforts when possible

6. Active engagement as a contributing member of the ACEL academic programs team – particularly with the Community Leadership degree program

7. Serve as an active and positive advocate for career opportunities related to ACEL and CFAES degree programs

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Masters degree in leadership, agricultural leadership, community development, human resource management, or a related discipline. A minimum of three years’ work experience with documented leadership or administrative responsibilities, excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate must have prior experience facilitating group learning opportunities; and a willingness to interact with and support the professional growth of leaders from a variety of backgrounds.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Prior experiences in teaching, instructional planning and delivery in formal or non-formal education or training settings, curriculum development, and learner assessment are preferred. Prior professional experience in creating and delivering leadership or professional development programs is also desirable.

We are one college spanning three campuses: Columbus, CFAES Wooster, and Statewide. Our CFAES Wooster campus includes a large research station and Ohio State’s only two-year academic unit, Ohio State ATI. The Statewide campus includes 11 research stations and Extension offices in all of Ohio’s 88 counties.
