This position requires the planning, coordination, and implementation of student placements outside of the state of Ohio for graduate students in the College of Social Work.
The position requires managing multiple processes at once, such as working with agencies and students to determine field placement options, managing required field placement forms in the database, meeting with field instructors around student needs, and supporting out-of-state students in the field. This position also involves developing new field placement agencies, evaluating out-of-state field placement and liaison processes, and participating in a number of field office and college-level meetings. The role will serve as a primary point of contact between agencies and the Office of Legal Affairs for all out of state affiliation agreements each semester. Student support will be developed through virtual engagement, and the position will require a level of adaptability to student schedules and time zones. This position will be responsible for managing all international placement and overseeing communication and placement needs for students who wish to complete an international placement. The position will also develop a process to ensure that all visa requirements are upheld for international students completing the in-person social work program. It will require regular communications with the admissions team, along with ongoing communication with the Office of International Affairs. In addition, the position will maintain a student placement load of a minimum of 40 students located outside of Ohio and will supervise the out of state coordinator. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 6 years of relevant experience required. 6 years of relevant experience required. Driver's license, car, and ability to travel required.
Desired Qualifications
Master's Level Degree with a Major in Social Work. MSW in Social Work and two years of post-masters experience in the field of social work desired. Prior teaching experience preferred. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred. Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, desired. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication and writing skills, planning, and organizational skills desired.
The target hiring range is $58,700 to $77,200 annually. The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the unit’s available budget.
Responsibilities
- Oversee placement facilitation for of out of state social work students. With the use of virtual technology, schedule meetings with students to determine the best placement options for them. Initiate conversations with field agencies in their area to facilitation affiliation and placement process. Follow up with students and agencies to ensure a match has been made and documented. Meet with field coordinators to determine student needs. Identify point of contacts and coordination with out of state agencies. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for all out of state Affiliation Agreements with the Office of Legal Affairs.
- Provides direct supervision to Out of State Coordinator who will oversee Visa requirements for international students completing the in-person program
- Oversee International Student placements abroad and work with the Office of International Affairs to ensure affiliation process is completed appropriately. In addition, this role will meet with students who are interested in international placements to share the process and student expectations.
- Attend all program and college meetings as required.
- Serves as back-up to field team members in the College of Social Work and other duties as assigned.
