BioSystems Analysis Lab (BSAL) in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the Ohio State University is looking for a full-time research technician 2 to be involved in biomass harvest, storage and processing research. The successful candidate will conduct field and lab experiments for different crops including corn, soybean, hemp, cotton, camelina and switchgrass. Responsibilities included: Field tests: Collect plant samples prior to crop harvest. Assist with organizing resources required for field testing. Involve in harvest activities and collect samples as necessary; Biomass storage: Monitor storage of the biomass periodically. Assist with storage characteristics evaluations at different time periods; Processing and characterization: Assist with processing of the biomass to different end-products. Assist with property analysis of the biomass samples collected from the field and from storage as well as the properties of the processed products; Data entry and organization: Assist with data entry and organization from the different research activities; Lab organization and maintenance: Maintain organization in the biomass storage and processing laboratory including organization of the supplies, cleanliness and operation of the processing equipment; Project management: Attend project update meetings and provide updates; Others, as assigned.
Required Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in agricultural or plant sciences with 1 years experience
- Experience with MS Office package
- Excellent team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Experience:
- Experience with agricultural systems
- Familiarity with biomass harvest and processing operations
