Job Title: Student Assistant-Retention & Student Success Initiatives (Newark Campus) Department: Newark | General-JM Qualifications: High school diploma Experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook Good communication skills and approachable Responsible and respectful of differences Works well on a team and willing to work in a fast-paced environment Takes initiative and is reliable Ability to handle confidential, sensitive information with professionalism Ideal candidate has willingness to support other students’ success and has demonstrated strong academic skills themselves FERPA and Institutional Data Policy compliance requirements must be met once hired 40% - Serve as the front-line employee in the Office of Retention & Student Success Initiatives, this includes: Answer phone/take messages/schedule appointments in Microsoft Outlook calendars Oversee department email account, answering questions, referring students, and connecting with appropriate staff within office Triage student concerns and link to appropriate resources, on campus or community Handle and work on projects with confidential student information Assist in operation of the office Provide information to faculty, staff, and students 30% - Assist director and staff with special projects related to retention and student success: Identifying student needs on campus and assist with unique outreach/action plan Data analysis in Excel Learning community student recruiting Targeted student outreach measures 15% - Provide support for special activity events including but not limited to, campus and learning community events as well as academic success workshops and programs 10% - Run errands on and off campus, make purchases for office, retrieve mail, and distribute to staff, prepare mailings, set up and monitor bulletin boards 5% -Other general duties as assigned Additional Information: FWS eligible jobs can be filled by a non-FWS student.
