Requires providing excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a professional environment. Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.
The Ohio State University South Centers, located at 1864 Shyville Rd., Piketon, OH will be hiring college students with excellent work performance and ethics for summer employment. Students will be hired as a Student Assistant and will be performing field or laboratory-work as required. Responsibilities include: harvesting fruit and vegetables; setting-up irrigation systems; collection and analysis of air, plant, water, and soil samples; plant and maintain crops; weed and water fruit and vegetable crop plots; maintain landscape beds; assisting in aquaponics; washing glassware; mowing grass; data entry; office work, and other miscellaneous work as needed.
Students will be required to work independently or as a group in the field, or laboratory unless otherwise advised by their supervisor. Primary job site will be Piketon, although some travel to outlying farms or research sites may be required. Weekly schedule will be Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Interested students must be 18 years of age.
Students with some college experience preferred. Driver's license is also required.
Hours are flexible. This position can work up to 28 hours if taking classes and up to 38 hours during the summer and/or academic breaks.
