As the Lead Microsoft System Center Administrator, the primary focus of System Administrator & Integration Coordinator is to provide a secure technical infrastructure for the Ohio State University Libraries. This role is crucial in maintaining and safeguarding the library's core digital infrastructure by managing and delivering applications, patches, and software updates. This position is responsible for collaborating with Digital Security and Trust (DST) colleagues within the University Libraries and within the University's central technology division to ensure network security, alignment with industry and University standards, and report compliance issues. This position works with the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) on firewall and networking management and maintenance, along with being a lead in the Libraries involvement and utilization of the State of Ohio Computer Center.
This position maintains accurate, clear, and standardized technical documentation. This role encompasses not just maintenance but also continuous improvement and foundational architecture and engineering for the Libraries technology service design. By striving to enhance processes and customer interactions, this position positively influences operations and service delivery.
Key Functions Include:
- Ability to present ideas and communicate information in a user-friendly language and manner across various stakeholder groups.
- Experience with virtualization (i.e., Microsoft Hypervisor, etc.) and physical and virtual server backup systems.
- Provides incident and service request resolution using standard ITIL practices and service management software services.
- Requires demonstrated competency in implementing developed solutions and managing IT-related projects.
- Builds and installs physical and virtual servers by providing technical configuration, setup, installation services, documentation and coordination of application projects.
- Interacts with vendors at the technical lead level as required.
- Maintains the Libraries' Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager framework.
- Experience with IT service management tools (i.e., Jira, ServiceNow) and expertise in effective and efficient helpdesk processes.
- Monitors various Libraries systems daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of network security and data privacy practices and all common threat vectors.
- Experience with setting up counter-measures to prevent or mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Maintains a strong understanding of day-to-day computer operations, familiar with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
- Provides configuration recommendations and assistance, including troubleshooting and de-bugging support for implementation projects and initiatives.
- Trains users and team members at the technical level in properly using hardware and software, as needed.
This position is in-person at least 4 days per week on the Ohio State University Columbus campus. One remote work day per week is available upon completion of flexible work agreement.

Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or Information Systems or other comparable degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 4 years of systems administration experience in a Microsoft environment.
- Multiple IT and systems administration certifications, ex. Microsoft certifications.
Desired:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or information systems administration.
- Multiple advanced IT-related certifications and/or PMP certification.
- 4-8 years of related system administration experience.
- Additional Information:
- Occasional weekend or evening hours based on IT preventative maintenance windows and ongoing support to enhance system reliability.
Posting Range:
The posting range for this position is $81,000 - $106,000 annually.
