Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prove-out new programs, tooling, and processes.
- Set up, check programs, and operate automatic numerically controlled machine tools and/or CNC machining equipment, to perform complex series of progressive machining operations, to meet precise tolerance and finish requirements.
- Work from operational data defining and coding tooling fixturing, machine arrangements.
- Arrange, mount, and secure tooling.
- Mount, align, and secure holding fixtures, or locate, support and secure work piece in absence of fixturing.
- Set stops; calibrate fixturing to appropriate reference points.
- Load program data from device or direct input.
- Manually cycle machine through operation sequence to check fixture and work positions, tooling clearances, speeds, feeds, etc.
- Adjust machine or console to correct deviations from program specifications.
- Recognize, report, and correct errors.
- Recommend and assist in developing tooling and process documentation.
- Assist in developing tooling applications and operational sequence to assist in developing practical programming for new and unusual machining requirements.
- May make setups for and instruct operators of lower classification or lesser experience, diagnose operating difficulties, and adjust.
- Work from detailed and involved drawings and specifications. Produce quality parts within blueprint tolerance.
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments and perform inspection and work measurement.
- Maintain or exceed the approved rate of production.
- Maintain acceptable attendance record, acceptable overall work record, and purchase the required tools for the classification.
- Train operators with less experience, as necessary.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions per established processes.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Perform light preventative maintenance and housekeeping duties for areas and equipment in assigned work center.
- Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
- Perform other related duties as deemed necessary by the Supervision or Management.

- Thorough understanding of program format.
- Ability to work independently, exhibit the ability to solve problems without assistance and demonstrate effective communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must have proven mechanical, clerical, and mathematical abilities necessary for safe equipment operation and accurate recording of data.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to standardized safety policies and operating practices.
- Knowledge of deburring techniques and ability to operate a variety of deburring and finishing equipment.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work performed in a non-air-conditioned shop environment.
- Exposure to shop environments such as noise, dust, odors, and fumes.
- May work at different workstations as production needs require.
- ·Standing entire shift.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Bending and stooping throughout shift.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as hoist, positioners, pallet jacks, fork trucks, etc.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Ability to read, write, and edit programs in G-code format. Thorough understanding of machining principles and demonstrated understanding of multi-plane Cartesian coordinate system relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot program, tooling, material, and machine tool issues.
- Demonstrated ability to set up, troubleshoot, and operate all types of CNC machine tools while adhering to quality and production standards.
- Demonstrated ability perform complex inspection and adhere to drawing specification and other criteria.
- Accredited apprenticeship or equivalent training together with considerable experience in safe machine shop practices and techniques, plus additional training to acquire a working knowledge of programming numerically controlled machine tools or CNC machining equipment and operations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform both milling and turning operations and must have demonstrated ability to set up and operate three or more CNC machine tool types, including horizontal machining centers, turning centers, and vertical machining centers.
- A hands-on or written test may be given to demonstrate proficiency.
- May be required to successfully complete a CNC training program.
- High School Diploma or GED, with above average mechanical ability.
- Three years machining experience or equivalent.
- Three years CNC experience or equivalent.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow processes, procedures, and policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervision, and management.
- Must be able to meet physical demands, with or without accommodation.
- Must be able to work any assigned shift.
