What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard position at The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska?
SUMMARY: The primary role of a security guard is to ensure the sufficient protection of property, staff, and patrons. They are responsible for patrolling designated areas, investigating any irregularities, unusual occurrences, or suspicious circumstances, and taking appropriate action to safeguard the well-being of staff, customers, and property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Guard property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
- Guards' patron against theft, assault and abuse.
- Permits authorized persons to enter property.
- Patrols periodically buildings, grounds, and worksite.
- Examines doors, windows, gates to determine that they are secure.
- Warns violators of rules and infractions such as; smoking, loitering, or carrying forbidden articles, alcohol, weapons, apprehends or expels violators.
- Responsible for telephone communication with fire or police departments in emergency situations.
- Records incidents in daily log.
- Prepare hourly documentation of internal and external patrols in daily log.
- Cover shifts for other security members
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) Must have one (1) year previous experience in the Security field.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
- Possess a valid Driver's License and be insurable by the Tribe's insurance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to remain alert and observant of individuals and surroundings
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to handle conflicts and confrontations if need arises
- Knowledgeable of evacuation protocols, fire department and police correspondence
- Ability to keep accurate record keeping and documentation of incidents
- Able to be professional and courteous in high pressure situations
- Can problem solve and be adaptable to situations
- Willing to work flexible hours to cover shifts
- Ability to follow instructions and have good work practices
