Summary
The Audio Visual department serves the Omega campus in three capacities: Audio Visual Production of workshops and concerts, Audio Recording for Archive and online content, and Video/Web production. Each of these teams works both independently and in collaboration with each other and the rest of the Omega community.
Audio Visual personnel work directly with visiting faculty. We are the “eyes and ears” in the classroom. Due to this high visibility on campus, all candidates should be confident, neatly presentable and be able to maintain a calm disposition when things go wrong. All candidates should be strong communicators and confident speaking in public.
The AV team facilitates all audio-visual equipment needs for catalog workshops, campus entertainment, staff programming and staff functions. The AV team works as a division of the Event Services Department and works closely with People and Culture, and Operations.
The AV team audio records about 30% of the catalog workshops, making the content available online and to the faculty as needed.
The Video/Web team works closely with the Marketing and Programming departments. They videotape and live-stream selected programs. They also conduct faculty video interviews and create B-roll for promotional purposes. Behind the scenes the Video/Web team spends significant time reviewing, editing and transforming material into web content.
Essential Functions
• The Recording shift hours are reflective of the workshop demands and will start a half hour earlier and end a half hour later than the schedule defined by the faculty. Not all workshop hours are the same so this is a case by case basis.
• Operate motor vehicles
• Responsible for the set up, removal, operation and maintenance of all audio-visual equipment in the catalog and staff workshop spaces.
• Cleaning Equipment and maintaining Inventory of Equipment & Supplies.
• Work with A/V Manager and Supervisor to co-ordinate and facilitate classroom changeovers and upcoming events.
• Pick up and drop off department related packages.
• Assist Recording Supervisor with recording operations, duplication, preparations, administration and the delivery of audio sales
• Communicate via phone and email with the AV management team and other Omega departments on shift.
• Other duties as required by supervisor

Requirements
• Basic knowledge of live audio set up and recording, and stage lighting is required.
• Working experience or have a willingness and capability to learn the following: multi channel mixing consoles; musical, vocal and wireless microphones; slide, overhead and LCD projectors; TV’s and VCR’s; live stage setup with house system and stage monitors; basic stage lighting.
• Comfortable and confident when engaging an audience or being on stage with faculty - in front of an audience.

Useful Skills
General Administration or Office Management, Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PhotoShop, Web Design, Pro-Tools, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro Studio, Flash), Theater Experience (Lighting, Acting, Stage Design, Sound), Audio & Video Engineering (recording and editing), Film & Video Production (any aspect), Television Production (any aspect), Sound Reinforcement Experience, Serious Musician (any genre), live or radio DJ.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Be comfortable with heights, on top of a 20ft ladder
• Ability to stand for long periods on occasion
• Ability to sit for long periods
• Ability to navigate a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license
Additional Requirements
A basic knowledge of live audio set up and recording, and stage lighting is required. Candidates should have working experience or have a willingness and capability to learn the following: multi channel mixing consoles; musical, vocal and wireless microphones; slide, overhead and LCD projectors; TV’s and VCR’s; live stage setup with house system and stage monitors; basic stage lighting. Broadcast quality studio sound and lighting working in concert with Camera operators. Neat appearance and articulate communication skills. The ability to receive direction and self motivate. Applicants must be comfortable and confident when engaging an audience or being on stage with faculty - in front of an audience. Must be able to carry 50 to 100 pounds with ease and be comfortable with heights, on top of a 20ft ladder.

Compensation
Seasonal staff work full-time for six months, between late-April through the end of October. Seasonal staff receive a compensation package that includes:

*This compensation package is at minimum equivalent to the New York State minimum wage.
