Summary
The Omega Kitchen is a large full-scale food production facility. It produces up to 2500 mostly plant-based meals per day as well as a breads and desserts for both the Dining Hall and Café.
The Receiving Supervisor position is created to support the overall infrastructure of a high volume kitchen operation through effective storage and receiving practices, overseeing chemical inventory and cleanliness of kitchen to support a clean and safe environment.
Essential Functions

- Oversee the pot wash chemical inventory and any utility worker present during the shift to maintain the general cleanliness of the kitchen.
- Maintain the daily receiving log.
- Check all orders against Purchasing Manager’s order to verify correct delivery.
- Alert the Purchasing Manager to any discrepancies between order sheets, invoices, and physical deliveries.
- Organize and deliver interdepartmental transfers to Omega Café.
- Label and store all delivered items in the correct storage spaces following First In, First Out (FIFO) rule.
- Maintain proper stock rotation.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of all inventory, storage areas and yard.
- Provide support to other kitchen stations as needed (including pot wash and prep).
- Complete daily ordering and inventory tasks with the support of Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and Purchasing Manager.
- Provide feedback to streamline ordering, receiving and proper stock rotation.
- Maintain communication and organize pickup and delivery of compost bins, recycling, cardboard, linens and garbage with support of Purchasing Manager.
- Work with or around knives, equipment, moving blades, open stovetop flames, hot ovens, steam and oil.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Work Details
- This position functions in Omega’s Kitchen/Dining Hall on the Omega campus.
- This is a full-time position.
- Food & Beverage staff are expected to have availability to work on weekdays and at least one weekend day each week. Schedules may vary based on operational needs, and flexibility is essential to ensure adequate coverage during peak times and events.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently move items that weigh 30-50 pounds for various needs.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to traverse a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions.
- Ability to position self to perform diverse job tasks as necessary.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand, and ability to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Compensation
Seasonal staff work full-time for six months, between Mid May through the end of October. Seasonal staff receive a compensation package that includes:
- Wage
- Indoor housing
- Three delicious meals per day in our mostly vegetarian Dining Hall

- This compensation package is at minimum equivalent to the New York State minimum wage.
