Summary:
The Open Book bookstore is looking for a full-time assistant manager to join our Woodland Hills team. The assistant manager supports the manager in store operations and acts as the on-site manager when manager is not present. Additionally, the assistant manager performs all book clerk duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Takes professional responsibility for the overall performance of the store as a whole
- In conjunction with the manager, delegates tasks and projects to employees and oversees the completion of all tasks
- Diffuses and responds to customer or co-worker concerns to avoid escalation of any potential problems
- Basic clerk duties include: retail, cash handling, customer service, creating social media posts, giving book recommendations, promoting items in-store, restocking, general store maintenance and organization.
Job Qualifications:
- Previous bookstore or library experience preferred.
- Previous retail experience required
- Excellent organizational and operational skills required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to learn new computer programs and software as needed.
- A cultivated and well-rounded knowledge of popular books required.
- Ability to recognize first editions and rare publications is preferred.
