The Opportunity
The Orcas Hotel & Cafe is seeking a year-round like cook. Be part of a fun and fast paced kitchen environment. Our classic cafe menu includes items like fish & chips, burgers, burritos and nightly chef specials .
We guarantee an hourly rate of $25 per hour (this includes base pay and tips.) We also offer high quality employee housing with individual units ranging from $450-$750/month.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, preparing meat, or running a bar counter).
- Work on line, operating fryer, grill, flat-top and other equipment.
- Follow recipes and standard food procedures.
- Set up station with all necessary supplies.
- Prepare food for service (e.g. cutting, trimming, or peeling vegetables, making sauces, or preparing meat).
- Stock station supplies.
- Clean and organize station.
- Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Position Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role (preferred).
- Able to work in a kitchen environment with a variety of foods and spices from around the world.
- Able to read and understand food specifications and cooking instructions.
- Have a high standard for safety and quality in all tasks.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
