Your Role as a Substitute Teacher

As a Substitute Teacher, you will provide consistent, engaging, and safe learning experiences for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-K students. You will step into classrooms as needed, supporting both planned lessons and daily routines while maintaining The Orchard School’s warm, nurturing atmosphere.

What You’ll Do:

• Step into classrooms with confidence, following established lesson plans and routines.
• Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment where children feel supported.
• Foster learning through play, storytelling, hands-on activities, and structured lessons.
• Manage classroom behavior with patience and positivity, following school guidelines.
• Support children’s daily routines, including mealtimes, rest, and diapering/potty training as needed.
• Communicate with parents and staff, providing updates on children’s well-being and progress.
• Be flexible and adaptable, jumping into different age groups and classroom settings as needed.

What We Look for in Our Substitute Teachers

✔ Experience & Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred)
• Prior experience working with young children (preferred).
• A passion for early childhood education and child development.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different classroom environments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
• CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
