Your Role as a Substitute Teacher
As a Substitute Teacher, you will provide consistent, engaging, and safe learning experiences for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-K students. You will step into classrooms as needed, supporting both planned lessons and daily routines while maintaining The Orchard School’s warm, nurturing atmosphere.
What You’ll Do:
- Step into classrooms with confidence, following established lesson plans and routines.
- Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment where children feel supported.
- Foster learning through play, storytelling, hands-on activities, and structured lessons.
- Manage classroom behavior with patience and positivity, following school guidelines.
- Support children’s daily routines, including mealtimes, rest, and diapering/potty training as needed.
- Communicate with parents and staff, providing updates on children’s well-being and progress.
- Be flexible and adaptable, jumping into different age groups and classroom settings as needed.

What We Look for in Our Substitute Teachers
✔ Experience & Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred)
- Prior experience working with young children (preferred).
- A passion for early childhood education and child development.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different classroom environments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
