What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at The Orthopaedic Center?
Responsibilities / Requirements :
- Perform general clinical duties in a busy orthopedic setting
- Perform wound care / dressing changes
- Drawing up injections
- Assist with calling patients to exam room
- Call in or escribe medications
- Application of sterile fields
- Applying splints and fitting of orthotics as needed
- Collect co-pays and outstanding balances as needed
- Pre-cert and schedule surgeries and procedures
- Verifying insurance for surgery and collect surgery deductibles
- Prepare surgery forms and packets
- Schedule referral appointments to other physicians as needed
- Locate any necessary test results, and / or reports
- Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for clinic, power up computers, etc.
- Prepare charts for clinic and print out patient information as needed
- Fill out return-to-work forms (FMLA / Short Term Disability) as needed
- Obtain signature on miscellaneous forms
- Friendly and Professional patient communication while :
- Answering and returning patient phone calls
- Providing procedure education
- Escorting patients to and from exam rooms
- Making appointment reminder calls as needed
- Responding to and charting patient messages
- Communicating test results to patients
Must also possess :
