The Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic is a physician-owned clinic specializing in orthopedic care for all ages. With a specialized, comprehensive team of orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, physical therapists, and friendly support staff, OFC is among Minnesota's most experienced orthopedic groups. Our primary clinic offers comprehensive services through our Physical Therapy/Sports Medicine Department, Back Care Center, in-office X-ray, MRI, and DXA scanner.
About the Role:
The LPN or CMA is responsible for providing direct or indirect nursing care to patients who are present with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems. LPNs and CMAs use knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices, and ethics.
Our nurses play an important role in the care of our patients. Qualified applicants understand orthopedic concepts and participate in the organization and management of physician’s practices.
Responsibilities:
• Room patients and gather initial patient intake and documentation in the Allscripts EHR system. Communicate with the physician and/or provider any abnormal conditions reported during recording of health history with patient.
• Prepare/drape the patient for the exam.
• Record the health history of patients and note abnormal conditions for the physician and/or provider.
• Assist physicians and providers with injections, brace fittings, post-op care, and other tasks as needed.
• Screen calls for physicians and providers to triage and answer questions within your scope of knowledge about medications, post-operative care, orders, etc.
• Document in the chart all transactions, phone conversations, and orders.
• Assist physicians and providers in setting up procedures and exams, revising daily schedules, obtaining charts and charge tickets, locate lab tests and x-ray reports.
• Set up stock rooms and clean rooms between procedures.
• Follow clinic policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.
• Understand and adhere to OSHA requirements for workplace safety to protect against potential exposure to bodily fluids and workplace injuries.
• Contact the pharmacy to order new and refill prescriptions and notify patients.
• Notify hospital or skilled nursing facility personnel of physician and provider orders.
• Order and maintain inventories of supplies and medications.
Location & Commitments:
• Full-time M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility.
• Mankato office: 1431 Premier Drive | Mankato, MN 56001
• Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
Candidate Requirements:
• LPN or CMA, current and in good standing.
• Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask.
• Dedicated to providing a positive patient experience.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to work compatibly with physicians, other department members, and clinic employees in other departments.
• Continue medical education/earn CEUs.
• Able to perceive and interpret written, oral/verbal material and generate written and electronic material.
• Interpret written, oral/verbal material and generate written and electronic material.
• Speak articulately.
• Physical requirements include the ability to stand/walk up to eight hours per day, reach/stretch above the head, bend, stop, twist, assist the patient in turn, assist the patient in getting on and off the exam table, assist the patient in arising from and returning to their wheelchair, push wheelchair patients, and carry/lift to 50 pounds.
Preferred Requirements
• Experience in orthopedic nursing.
• Customer service experience.
• Proficient keying ability.

Base pay range: $21 - $32 DOE/DOQ
