What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Certified Athletic Trainer position at The Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic, P.A.?
At the school and on the field:
Provide athletic training services to contracted high schools and local youth programs as needed. Flexible schedule and hours available during sports seasons.
The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for safe and effective direct delivery of patient care including patient evaluation, treatment, reassessment, and discharge planning. Provide athletic training services to high school and with community relationships as needed and directed.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
Evaluates Athletes for injuries
- Determine level of care needed
- Assists in appropriate referral to medical personnel
- Handles immediate care of athletic injuries as needed
- Communicates proper follow-up care to patients, coaches and any other medical support personnel
- Determine playability of injured athletes in both practice and competition
Maintains records
- Keep treatment records on athletes
- Maintain any record of physician visits of athletes
- Track parental consents, emergency information and other medical records pertinent to athletes
Work with school and coaches
- Obtain adequate and appropriate supplies for effective care via school administration
- Work with coaching staff on pre-season programs to help prevent injuries and prepare athletes for competition as requested
- Assists coaching staff in game preparation of equipment and supplies needed to handle athletic injuries.
- Have plan in place to handle emergencies
- Provide patient and family education to maximize treatment program
Clinic Schedule optional and offered on a case-by-case basis
- AT’s work closely with the orthopaedic surgeons and nursing staff and are responsible for rooming patients, initial patient in-take and documentation in Allscripts EHR system. AT’s will assist providers with injections, brace fittings, post-op care and other tasks as needed. The AT’s and nurses work as a team and are not assigned to a specific physician or advance practice provider and play an important role in the care of our patients.
Qualifications:
Required
- Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer
- Licensed as an athletic trainer with the MN Board of Medical Practice.
- Current CPR
Preferred
- Membership of the National Athletic Training Association
