GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Responsible for scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner, gathering patient demographics, updating patients to inform them of their appointments and using technology to coordinate patient’s care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Answers telephones promptly using standard OIP greeting, identifies self and directs calls as appropriate.
- Verify and update patient demographic information in the system.
- Schedules patient appointments following physician protocols
- Answering patient and outside facilities questions (via telephone, portal, etc.)
- Processing electronic fax documents
- Transcribe Ring Central messages and handle appointment cancellations, reschedules, open same day appointments and confirmations through various channels.
- Assist with completing team triages and team to-do’s
- Preparing patient portal letters to be mailed
- Open / close switchboard per procedure and provide on-call information as needed.
- Quality Assurance (QA) responsibilities such as communicating to source providers if documents come through the tank with the wrong date of birth, name spelling, etc. and requesting corrected documents from source providers.
- Demonstrates flexibility in performing additional responsibilities that contribute to the improvement of patient care and the well-being of the practice.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION : High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE : One year’s work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable. Word processing and computer experience.
REQUIREMENTS : Strong customer service skills.
