Position Overview
Osborn Engineering is seeking an experienced Principal of Electrical Engineering to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is a corporate position that can reside in any Osborn office location and requires a seasoned professional with over 20 years of expertise in Power Distribution and Lighting Design, alongside a proven leadership track record in the AEC consulting environment. As a senior leader, the Principal of Electrical Engineering will directly report to the CEO and play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction and technical excellence of the firm’s electrical engineering efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership in Technical Excellence: Develop and maintain Electrical Technical Standards, Specifications, and Design Details across the company. Set the benchmark for technical excellence and ensure consistent application across all projects and teams.
- Staffing and Resource Management: Oversee the staffing needs across all offices and departments, identifying gaps in technical skill sets. Collaborate with department managers to forecast project needs and recruit top talent to ensure we meet client demands effectively.
- Staff Development and Evaluation: Lead the evaluation and assessment of technical staff performance, promoting professional growth and skill development across the firm. Ensure that high standards of excellence are met in all teams.
- Project Oversight and Quality Control: Take a proactive role in overseeing project staffing, particularly for large or highly complex initiatives. Participate in the conceptual design phase, ensuring the appropriate resources and quality control teams are assigned. Monitor the progress and QA/QC process, providing feedback and ensuring adherence to standards.
- Quality Assurance: Drive the company-wide QA/QC process, actively participating in and reviewing select projects to ensure adherence to our quality standards. Act as a key point of contact for project-specific quality control, working closely with Project Managers and other leadership.
- Technical Design Leadership: Lead the technical design for select projects, ensuring that innovative and practical solutions are integrated into the final deliverables.
- Principal-in-Charge: Serve as Principal-in-Charge for designated projects, overseeing project execution and ensuring it aligns with client expectations and company standards.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other Discipline Principals to foster a unified, efficient, and high-quality approach across all engineering disciplines. Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and teamwork across the company, ensuring alignment with Osborn’s values and goals.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- 20 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with a strong background in Power Distribution and Lighting Design.
- Proven leadership experience in the AEC consulting sector, with a demonstrated ability to manage teams, develop talent, and deliver successful projects.
- Deep technical expertise and a passion for maintaining high standards of engineering quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams across the company.
