Position Overview:
The Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the beverage program, ensuring the highest standards of quality, service, and efficiency. Reporting to the F&B Management Team, this role will focus on ordering and inventory management, supervising shifts, and stepping in as a bartender when needed based on business demands. The Beverage Supervisor ensures that guest expectations are consistently exceeded, motivates and develops the beverage team, and contributes to operational excellence and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership and Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the beverage department, ensuring efficient and professional service at all times.
- Coordinate the organization and administrative functions of the beverage operation to meet service and quality standards.
- Maintain staffing levels that align with business demands, stepping into bartending shifts when necessary to ensure coverage.
- Ensure adherence to operational standards, safety protocols, and service guidelines throughout the hotel.
- Conduct regular operational meetings to provide updates and feedback on beverage department performance and goals.
- Guest Experience and Satisfaction
- Focus on creating exceptional guest experiences by maintaining high service standards in all beverage operations.
- Handle guest complaints promptly and effectively, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining guest satisfaction.
- Work with the marketing team to promote seasonal drinks, cocktail menus, and beverage specials to attract and retain guests.
- Inventory and Ordering Management
- Manage beverage ordering and inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and accurate tracking of product usage.
- Prepare, issue, and account for beverage supplies and equipment in accordance with hotel standards.
- Conduct regular inventories with F&B leaders, ensuring accuracy and completeness of stock records.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products and ingredients.
- Staff Development and Team Leadership
- Train, coach, and develop bar and service teams to ensure high levels of service, professionalism, and operational efficiency.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and staff engagement.
- Lead shifts as needed, stepping in as a bartender to provide hands-on leadership and support during peak times.
- Address performance issues and provide constructive feedback to staff to support their development.
- Operational Improvements and Service Enhancements
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with the team to elevate the guest experience.
- Develop and maintain a seasonal cocktail and beer menu that reflects current trends and guest preferences.
- Research new beverage products, trends, and innovations to incorporate into the beverage offerings.
- Continuously monitor and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate closely with F&B leaders, and other departments (such as marketing and IT) to ensure smooth operation and alignment with hotel objectives.
- Maintain open communication across all levels of the beverage team to address any operational issues promptly.
- Participate in regular meetings to develop new strategies for enhancing the beverage program and improving guest satisfaction.
- Technology and Systems Management
- Oversee the maintenance and programming of all beverage-related F&B systems, ensuring they are operational and regularly updated.
- Work with the IT department to ensure that all hardware and technology used in beverage operations is functional and up to date.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure that all beverage operations comply with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and local legal requirements.
- Maintain inventory controls to ensure all products are properly stored and handled.
- Other Responsibilities
- Manage special projects as assigned by the F&B Management Team.
- Support sustainability initiatives within the beverage department to promote environmental responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, with a focus on beverage operations, preferably in an upscale or large-scale hotel/resort setting.
