What are the responsibilities and job description for the Voter Registration Canvasser position at The Outreach Team?
Community Canvassers
Hiring Immediately - $25-$27/hr bonuses
Full-time & Part-time
Now more than ever, it is imperative that people uplift their voices at the ballot box to vote for the change that they want to see in their communities. In order to turn out the vote later this year, we are working with Battleground NY to register voters in key Congressional districts across the state.
Registering voters is an essential first step to ensuring elected officials reflect the diversity and wishes of the communities they serve. Too often community members are invested in elections but do not have access to register to vote or they’re unsure of the process to register. We’ll engage with potential voters in busy areas in their communities and educate them on key issues and take them through the process to register to vote. Through our work, we will provide access for thousands of voters in New York to register to vote and cast their vote later this election cycle.
New York is a central battleground in the effort to control Congress this year. That’s why we're working on behalf of Battleground New York, a new coalition of New York’s leading organizations, unions, and movements, representing New Yorkers from all walks of life. Our campaign with Battleground New York will register thousands of people to vote in key congressional districts, and make sure their voices are heard in this year’s critical elections.
This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise.
Get paid well! Canvass positions start at $25/hour. Leadership positions start at $27/hour. We offer overtime pay, paid training, sick pay, and bonuses for friend referrals.
