Position Overview The Communications & Marketing Specialist plays a key role in engaging internal and external audiences by creating compelling content that highlights Overlake’s mission, values, and vibrant community. Reporting to the Director of Communications & Marketing, this role is responsible for developing and delivering communications across multiple platforms, including the school’s website, social media, email marketing, and other digital and print media.
This temporary position is ideal for a communications and marketing professional with a passion for storytelling, education, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related fields and a strong ability to craft engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute digital content strategies to enhance Overlake’s visibility and engagement.
· Create, manage, and regularly update content for Overlake’s website, social media platforms, and email marketing campaigns.
· Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with the online community.
· Write, edit, and publish compelling stories, articles, and announcements that align with Overlake’s mission and strategic priorities.
· Capture and curate high-quality photos and videos to support storytelling and marketing efforts.
· Support internal communications, ensuring clear and effective messaging for students, parents, faculty, and staff.
· Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to identify and develop content opportunities.
· Assist with the design and development of marketing materials and promotional campaigns.
· Provide occasional front desk reception coverage as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, related field, or comparable experience.
· 3-7 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
· Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
· Experience managing social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
· Proficiency in email marketing software, content management systems, and analytics tools.
· Basic photography and videography skills, with an eye for visual storytelling.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
· A proactive and curious mindset, eager to learn and engage with the Overlake community.
