This role requires an educator passionate about preparing students for 21st-century careers through instruction in programming, digital citizenship, and ethical technology use.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an engaging, classically infused technology curriculum aligned with Arizona State Standards and ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) standards.
- Teach fundamental computer science concepts, including programming (Python, Java, or JavaScript), web development, robotics, and database management.
- Incorporate digital citizenship, cybersecurity, and responsible technology use in classroom discussions.
- Guide students through project-based learning (PBL) and hands-on experiences, such as coding challenges, app development, and ethical hacking simulations.
- Integrate technology into cross-disciplinary projects, collaborating with humanities and STEM faculty to create an enriched learning experience.
- Support students in preparing for industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Microsoft Technology Associate, Google IT Support).
- Maintain and manage classroom technology resources, including software, hardware, and online learning platforms.
- Lead and mentor students in extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs, robotics teams, or eSports.
- Stay current with technological advancements and update the curriculum to reflect industry trends.
- Foster a growth mindset and a culture of innovation and problem-solving among students.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to faculty discussions on technology integration in education.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field.
- Arizona Teaching Certification or ability to obtain one preferred.
- Experience teaching high school computer science or technology in a charter or public-school setting preferred.
- Proficiency in programming languages, software development, or IT fundamentals.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools (Google Suite, Learning Management Systems, coding platforms).
- Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills to support diverse learners.
- Passion for blending classical education principles with modern technology.
- Ability to mentor students in technology career pathways and support their professional growth.
- Experience with STEM integration, robotics, or AI education.
- Background in AP Computer Science A/Principles or CTE (Career and Technical Education) certification.
- Leadership experience in technology clubs, hackathons, or student competitions.
