Warehouse Facilities Associate
The Paper Store is a family owned and operated chain of specialty gift stores in the Northeast and Florida. The Paper Store Distribution Center (DC) supports all store locations with timely product replenishment and online customer order fulfillment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be a TPS Brand Ambassador.
- Be a good neighbor by ensuring that trucks are only loaded, unloaded and operated between 7am-7pm on weekdays, 8am-7pm on Saturdays, and 1pm-4pm on Sundays.
- Follow all TPS policies and procedures.
- Cross train and work in all areas of the distribution center.
- Perform all other tasks assigned by the Distribution Center leadership team.
- Disarm and unlock all building entry points at the beginning of each shift.
- Assist third party drivers with entry into the building, prior to regular business hours.
- Monitor forklifts, water forklift batteries, and notify the facilities manager immediately of any forklift damage or necessary maintenance.
- Tour the entire warehouse on a regular basis to identify and report all maintenance concerns and hazards to the facilities leader or another member of the senior leadership team in their absence.
- Partner with the facilities leader to determine which maintenance concerns can be handled in-house and which issues require third party assistance.
- Complete assigned maintenance tasks such as, but not limited to, basic repairs, light carpentry, painting, cleaning and replacing air conditioner air filters.
- Assist with racking placement, moves, and adjustments.
- Sanitize all surfaces in the building when required.
- Remove trash from departments, including between floor levels, to the dumpster.
- Monitor the dumpster and contact the waste management company when removal is required.
- Move all cardboard from departments, including between floor levels, to a central location, using power equipment and/or a box truck.
- Identify and remove broken pallets from the warehouse floor to a safe, centralized location.
- Prepare cardboard and broken pallets for removal to the offsite recycling center.
- Deliver cardboard and broken pallets to the offsite recycling center.
- Perform snow removal as needed, including stairwells and any snow within six feet of the building.
- Load and unload trucks. If approved to do so, use the box truck to move product and supplies from one level to the other.
- All other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Respect for and adherence to local ordinances, including but not limited to noise ordinances limiting the loading, unloading, and operating shipping and delivery trucks to specific time periods each day.
- A positive attitude and be self–motivated.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Three-year minimum driver experience with clean driving record to comply with DOT regulations.
- Satisfactory completion of a DOT physical, post job offer (at company’s expense).
- Have at least two years driving experience with 26ft box truck.
- Ability to read, interpret, and comply with written information and documents such as company policies, procedure manuals and maintenance instructions.
- Flexibility with scheduling including overtime and weekends during periods of high distribution volume
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Prior warehouse experience and RF Scan technology a plus.
- Valid Driver’s license required.
- The willingness to learn and drive a box truck on company premises.
- Ability to use and climb up and down ladders.
- DOT certification is preferred (the cost of maintaining certification will be covered by the company during employment).
- Pass and maintain power equipment certification. Training and certification will be provided by the company.
- Ability to climb up and down ladders.
- Ability to frequently kneel, squat, bend, stoop and twist.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand for 8 hours
