Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000

Our offices are based in the heart of the Loop in downtown Chicago, but we are pleased to note that our Chicago office is operating on a hybrid work model (mix of in-office and remote work).
Position Summary:
The HR Business Partner is responsible for supporting the VP of People Operations as a strategic business partner to Senior Operation Leaders and frontline employees. The HR Business Partner will be responsible for supporting the talent management, safety, training and development, absence management, and employee relations functions. In addition, the HR Business Partner will play a significant role supporting the Company’s Annual Leadership Summit, Market of the Year, Grand Opening, and other milestone events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently provide virtual and onsite counseling to management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention (e.g. employee relations, absence management, engagement and recognition, career development, talent management initiatives, turnover and retention actions).
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues by conducting effective thorough and objective investigations, interpreting company policy or practices, recommending appropriate corrective action, and escalating as appropriate to the VP of People Operations.
- Champion change management initiatives with agility, creativity, and high enthusiasm (e.g., merger and acquisitions, HRIS upgrades, DOT/labor/employment compliance requirements, and other company growth projects).
- Lead alongside other functional administrators to maintain health and wellness programs, FMLA and other leave of absence programs, safety initiatives, TPS Gives Back and charitable programs, and employee experience initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices and federal/state/regulatory employment and labor law requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department and management as needed/required.
- Analyze HR-related data and internal processes and propose best practice opportunities for process improvement to the VP of People Operations and key stakeholders.
- Develop rapid response plans for understaffed locations or critical role vacancies and support the success of Field recruiting efforts under the direction of the Talent Acquisition Director.
- Lead the training and development of the Field as it relates to LinkedIn Learning, the Field Management Training Calendar, and Field Onboarding.
- Formulate and oversee on-site HR Audits as it relates to pre-employment authorization, driver compliance, TPS drug and alcohol programs, communication boards, and training and development programs.
- Execute onboarding processes efficiently, ensuring new hires receive a smooth and informative welcome to TPS by conducting surveys, focus groups, or interviews (e.g., 90-day reviews, office hours, and exit interviews)
- Maintain accurate HR records and data within the HRIS system and ensure adherence to established system workflows.
- Support event planning and onsite logistics for the Company’s Market of the Year, Culture Week, new location Grand Openings, Annual Leadership Summit, and other milestone events.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- 3-5 years HR experience, preferably in hospitality, retail, or transportation industries
- Prior employee relations experience
- PHR or SHRM certification preferred
- Experience using an HRIS, preferably UKG
- Ability to travel 2 –4 days each month, with some possible overnight travel
- Self-starter, highly skilled in areas of attention to detail, follow-up, prioritization, and organization
