Summary:
The Engineering Technology Specialist leads assigned engineering technician tasks and maintenance activities with minimal supervision. This role serves as a subject matter expert in the implementation of maintenance programs, automation, PLCs, and optimization projects to enhance equipment reliability. The specialist is expected to evaluate alternative courses of action and make independent decisions to ensure efficient operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all PLC programming related to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automation systems for equipment reliability.
- Lead the installation of industrial equipment, including machinery and automation systems.
- Provide technical support to maintenance personnel for advanced troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical issues and planned outages.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, identify necessary parts, and ensure all equipment meets regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular inspections, make necessary repairs, and upgrade or replace outdated systems.
- Install and upgrade system components for improved optimization and conduct diagnostic evaluations for adjustments.
- Participate in hiring, firing, promotions, and other personnel decisions within the department.
- Analyze existing equipment to identify improvement opportunities and determine the best course of action.
- Reduce operational costs by implementing cost-reduction initiatives.
- Mentor and supervise other technicians as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise or lead engineering technicians as required.
Job Requirements:
- Strong commitment to environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and exercise discretion in project execution.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering technology, completion of trade school, or an associate degree in engineering technology (or a closely related discipline) with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Prior supervisory or lead technician experience preferred.
- Experience with PLC/Robotic programming.
- Detail-oriented with strong communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
