Process Metallurgist
World class global specialty stainless producer in the Pittsburgh and central Ohio area is looking for a Metallurgical Engineer to join their team.
Primary Objective is to provide technical support related to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of products that safely and cost effectively meet requirements for quality and delivery, with a focus on melt shop (AOD/EAF/bottom pouring) operations.This highly visible position reports to the Director of Process Metallurgy. Excellent opportunity for recent graduate with co-op/internship experience.
Responsibilities
- Compliance with Quality and Safety systems and procedures
- Review and disposition heats produced in the air melt shop.
- Improve melt shop practices with regards to product/process improvement.
- Internal interface to Management and functional groups across Universal Stainless plant locations
- Perform statistical analysis and correlate process and product data
- Support non-conformance disposition, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Lead and support continuous improvement efforts
- Review customer claims and issue technical reports
- Provide support during customer and regulatory audits
- No supervisory responsibilities

Education
- Minimum 4 year degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science
Preferred Experience
- 3 years minimum experience in ferrous metallurgy of Aerospace materials
- 3 years minimum experience in primary melting and remelting processing
- Preferred experience with SEM/EDS including automated feature analysis (AFA)
Security Level:
- US Citizen or US Person meeting ITAR requirements
- Sponsorship of visa will be considered for strong candidates
