The Partnership’s upstream intervention model combines housing, rental assistance and crisis services with mental health, support and education programming to prevent people from losing their homes. Our services are available to New Yorkers of any ability, age, family type, gender, national origin, race and sexual orientation who are at risk of, experiencing or recovering from homelessness.

Position Overview 

The Manager of Individual Engagement role presents an opportunity to leverage your fundraising talent and experience to advance an innovative organization that believes homelessness can be solved with an upstream, preventative approach that is more humanitarian and cost-effective than traditional approaches. 

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Partnerships, the Manager will grow and manage the individual engagement program in line with The Partnership’s mission, values and strategy. Specifically, the Manager will manage direct and digital individual giving campaigns (including year-end, calendar-specific and event-related campaigns) and planned giving. The position calls for a meticulous, analytical self-starter and problem solver who has integrity, is deadline-focused, works collaboratively, has superior written communication skills and enjoys inspiring others to rethink and reframe. The position is integral to growing individual support and ensuring stellar data management and donor privacy and care.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the marketing team to create and follow an integrated marketing calendar;
  2. Implement annual and monthly direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns;
  3. Ensure compelling solicitations, reports and other donor correspondence;
  4. Conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate and secure new donors;
  5. Implement a moves management system to provide a dynamic and engaging donor experience; 
  6. Manage a Planned Giving Program, including identification and cultivation of planned gift prospects, management of existing pledges and collaboration with the marketing team to develop stakeholder education about legacy giving;
  7. Design and manage virtual and in-person fundraising and acknowledgment events, including coordination of staff, vendors and consultants and efficient use of technologies
  8. Oversee and manage CRM database in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, including donor record creation and maintenance, reports and queries, prospect research and gift processing and acknowledgements;
  9. Develop and maintain expert knowledge of online giving platform and manage reconciliation with CRM and Finance;
  10. Maintain in-depth knowledge of donors and proactively produce reports/briefs for the senior team;
  11. Ensure accurate and immediate gift processing and acknowledgments; 
  12. Set and implement detailed work and production plans; 
  13. Serve as an organizational spokesperson with donors and other stakeholders as assigned; 
  14. Maintain up to date knowledge on donor technology and related security standards and requirements;
  15. Other duties as assigned;

Skills & Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Superior writing skills are required;
  2. 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably with 3 years in a frontline individual engagement role with demonstrated ability to manage a donor CRM;
  3. Proven ability to work independently, with experience creating and implementing income recording and reconciliation systems and work plans, and generating donor reports and analysis for senior staff;
  4. Demonstrated success in planning and managing campaigns and events, including budgets;
  5. Solutions-focused with the motivation and ability to build and fix systems, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and thrive in a small, hands-on environment with multiple priorities;
  6. A seasoned storyteller and networker who is motivated by and can leverage the organization’s mission, values and strategy to produce compelling donor engagement materials;
  7. Experience working with diverse teams and stakeholders and commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in a multicultural environment;
  8. Excellent analytical and communication skills, bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus;
  9. Proficient in MS Office software and donor database systems; Raiser’s Edge a plus; 
  10. Understanding of and willingness to uphold The Partnership’s values.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The position works in a professional office environment with low to moderate noise, involves routine use of office equipment (such as computers, phones, copiers/scanners and filing cabinets) and may involve meeting travel and early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays as needed. The physical requirements of the position include maintaining a stationary position and focus for long periods of time; utilizing hands and fingers and reaching with hands and arms to operate office equipment; talking, hearing, seeing and exchanging accurate information via in-person, electronic, telephonic, virtual and written communications; and, typing, standing, walking, siting, stooping and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Benefits

Compensation for this full-time, exempt role includes: $75K salary; generous PTO and benefits, including employer coverage of 100% of employee health insurance premiums (medical, dental, vision); disability; life insurance; transit; and 401K with employer contribution A seasonal 4-day work-week, based in NYC office.
