What are the responsibilities and job description for the Real Estate Paralegal position at The Pearce Law Group P.C.?
Centrally located Myrtle Beach Law Firm is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a legal setting and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Reviewing surveys, title commitments, and exception documents
- Preparing documents relating to a variety of real estate, loan, and construction matters, based on consultation with business clients and review by attorneys, including but not limited to agreements, leases, loan documents, and standard construction contracts
- Preparing ancillary real estate transaction documents such as escrow instructions, deeds, easements, owner’s affidavits, closing certificates, entitlements, etc.
- Providing general assistance in real estate, lending, construction, and leasing transactions.
- Proofreading legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Analyzing and summarizing documents, zoning ordinances, and statutes for review by attorneys
- Working closely with attorneys to resolve a variety of day-to-day issues, and supporting a broad range of residential and commercial transactions and projects
- Performing legal due diligence
- Multi-tasking and prioritizing work assignments to consistently provide high-quality work product within stated deadlines
- Schedule, assist, and attend to as needed, client meetings, closings
- Organize and analyze documents
- Ensure that copies of documentation are properly filed and distributed to all parties
- Calendaring dates
- In addition to these duties, paralegals are expected to handle administrative tasks such as filing papers, answering telephone calls, and maintaining and organizing paper and electronic files
- Other similar duties, as required
Skills:
- Able to take a file from start to finish, including but not limited to pre-closing, closing, post-closing, and submitting title work
- Intermediate-level computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Outlook, Qualia, document management systems, and time-keeping software, are necessary
- Knowledge of common office equipment and ability to run them (i.e –fax, copier, scanner)
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and prioritize multiple tasks as environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven
- Excellent communication skills, in both writing and orally. Listens and obtains clarification, responds well to questions, and able to communicate with clients and attorneys in a courteous, effective, and professional manner
- Must be able to work independently, as well as alongside a team and with clients, agents, and lenders
- Good interpersonal skills are important
- Punctual and consistently at work and on time; available based on attorney needs and able to work hours as required in order to facilitate communications and work product with attorneys and other staff
