The Peggs Company, a leading shopping cart manufacturer, is seeking an experienced and proactive Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you’ll lead the procurement process, manage supplier relationships, and optimize supply chain operations to ensure seamless and cost-effective purchasing. We’re looking for someone who specializes in commodities management and has a strong background in vendor negotiation and forecasting.
What You’ll Do
- Develop Procurement Strategies – Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers while optimizing costs and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
- Vendor Management & Performance – Build strong supplier relationships, develop aVendor Scorecard to assess performance, and capitalize on vendor incentive programs and rebates.
- Forecasting & Market Analysis – Monitor S&P indices and market trends to accurately forecast material needs and make informed purchasing decisions for key commodities.
- Contract Negotiation & Compliance – Negotiate favorable contracts, ensure compliance with procurement laws, and implement sustainable sourcing practices.
- Inventory Control & Cost Management – Analyze demand patterns, manage inventory levels, and identify year-over-year cost-saving opportunities.
- Reporting & Process Optimization – Streamline procurement systems, track key performance metrics, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
- 5 years of experience as a purchasing manager with a strong record of cost optimization and supplier management.
- Expertise in commodities procurement and market trend analysis.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with the ability to evaluate market trends and forecast material needs effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and procurement software.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in supply chain management or related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CPM, CPSM, CSCP).
- Experience with global sourcing, logistics, and supply chain best practices.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.
