The Pennington School seeks a Head Varsity Boys' Basketball coach for the 2025-26 school year. Reporting to the director of athletics and the associate head of School, the head coach will oversee the boys' basketball program. The head coach will collaborate with all program stakeholders, including assistant coaches, athletes, director of summer programs, faculty/staff members, and parents, and will serve as an advocate and positive role model for our student-athletes.

Responsibilities
- Direct and organize the Upper School Boys' Basketball program
- Ensure the teams' competitiveness in the MAPL Conference and NJISAA Prep State Tournament and ensure the league's policies and guidelines are upheld
- Coordinate and oversee assistant coaches as they work to ensure individual attention to all athletes
- Collaborate with the Admission Office to attract and recruit highly qualified student-athletes who align with the School's mission and needs of the basketball program
- Serve as a mentor and role model, upholding the School values of honor, virtue, and humility
- Work to support a vibrant and fundamental program at the junior varsity and junior varsity II levels, which serves as a feeder to the varsity program.
- Design a strategy to expose younger players to the sport with summer programming and other initiatives
- Organize an optional fall season open gym program for those who would like to participate
- Organize optional summer league and summer live periods to help create team cohesion and exposure for the program and players
- Ensure the proper maintenance and inventory of equipment and uniforms
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with players, parents, School administration, and athletic staff
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission and values of The Pennington School, especially as they relate to good character and sportsmanship on and off the field
- Provide guidance to student-athletes engaged in the NCAA recruitment process and work with the College Counseling Office to ensure the right college fit for each student
- Bachelor's degree required
- Previous experience coaching basketball at the high school or collegiate level; independent school experience is a plus
- Previous high school/collegiate head coaching experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required
- Possessing or being able to obtain a commercial driving license (CDL) is required.
